CONGRATULATIONS to Niall Scully, Eoghan O’Gara and Denis Bastick, who were part of the Dublin squad that secured their seventh successive Leinster Senior Football Championship title on Sunday afternoon. Niall Scully was selected in the starting line-up for the 2-23 to 1-17 victory against Kildare at Croke Park, in what is his debut championship season at county level. Well done also to Lorcan O’Dell, who recently featured for the Dublin U16 side against Monaghan.
It proved to be a mixed week for our senior men’s team, who followed a four-point defeat (1-10 to 1-14) at home to Naomh Olaf on Wednesday in AFL2 with a hard-fought draw away to Naomh Mearnog in Portmarnock on Saturday. Final score: Naomh Mearnog 1-15, Templeogue Synge Street 3-9.
Our Junior 1 side recorded a comprehensive 6-16 to 0-3 win over Mearnog at Dolphin Park last Tuesday (July 11), and then received a walkover from St Peregrine’s from their proposed fixture on Sunday morning. The four points from these games places the lads in fourth place in the AFL5 table, and within touching distance of league leaders Na Fianna.
Our Junior 2 men suffered a 2-18 to 0-10 defeat at the hands of Raheny in AFL9 at St Anne’s Park last Thursday evening, but will be back in action tomorrow night in a derby encounter with St Jude’s at Tymon North. Throw-in: 7.30pm.
