IT proved to be a mixed weekend for our adult men’s teams in their respective Championships.
Our senior side recorded a fine victory over Erin’s Isle in Finglas on Sunday evening, in a Senior Football Championship Relegation encounter, with a final scoreline of 0-17 to 1-4 ensuring that we maintain our top-tier status for 2018.
Our Junior 1 outfit were on top for large spells of their game with Ballymun Kickhams on Sunday morning at Pairc Ciceam, but they ultimately were on the receiving end of a two-point defeat (1-10 to 1-8) in the Junior ‘A’ Football Championship.
Our Junior 2s entertained Na Fianna in Dolphin Park on the back of an excellent opening round triumph against Castleknock, but unfortunately came up short in the Junior ‘D’ Football Championship.
Our senior men are back in competitive action tomorrow evening (Wednesday), when they will play host to Ballinteer St John’s at 7.15pm in the AIB Cup. Our Junior 2s are also set to face Raheny in Group One of the Sheridan Cup on Thursday evening. A 7.15pm throw-in at Dolphin Park.
Hard luck to our adult ladies team, who were defeated by St Sylvester’s in the Division Two league in Broomfield last Wednesday. Congratulations to Rachel Seery, who was part of the Dublin panel for their U16 Leinster Ladies Football Championship triumph over Kildare in Clane last Saturday afternoon. Dublin will now progress to the All-Ireland semi-final on Wednesday, July 12, when they will face this year’s Connacht champions.
